A great way to organize your contacts is to use the TAG feature. Add and remove tags to determine specific actions and stages that a contact is at (similar but more compact compared to a pipeline stage). More than one tag can be attributed to a single contact.

Method to Add & Remove Tags:

  • While importing a list of new contacts, you can add tags to particular contacts in the spreadsheet you upload, or apply a common tag to the whole list. (Refer to the "Method to Import Contacts" article to learn the step-by-step process.)
  • Manually apply or remove a tag within an individual contact record.

To apply or remove a tag to contact records, a trigger can also be set up. (Refer article "Method to Build and Utilize Triggers" for the step-by-step process.) A few options for the trigger action to prompt the tag-add are call status, updated appointment status, specified email(s) being sent, form submission, and more.

  • Use a select-and-tag option by using the Bulk Actions within the Contacts section. After checking the box next to desired contacts, click the 'Add Tag' Icon at the top, and apply the desired tag. (The same method can be used to remove a tag too.)

Usage of Tags

  1. To filter down to a specific group of leads/customers that you want to see, Tags can be used in the Smart Lists/Contacts.
  2. Also, to define a group of leads in order to send a Bulk Request, Tags are used (think Newsletter, Email Blast, etc.)

Note: Tags should be devoid of special characters. The system will technically allow you to create a tag with a special character, such as "This & That" or "#Yes" but it won't let you pull the list of contacts properly if the tag has a special character. We recommend using text only (spaces are okay).
